FAQ’S GYMS SPORT IS LIFE

Below are the most frequently asked questions that a user may encounter after registering their gym with Sport Is Life. However, if you have any questions that are not answered on this page, you can always write to us at [email protected]. In the future, we will update this page according to the questions we receive.

I have just registered my gyms with Sport Is Life, what do I have to do now?2021-11-08T08:00:37+00:00

When you have finished registering your gyms on Sport Is Life, the first thing you need to do is to save your gyms data. To do this, you need to go to the “My gyms” page. On this page there will be the number of gyms you selected when you registered, but these gyms will have a default name, and will not have any gym details. To enter the details of the gym, the first thing you have to do is click on the “EDIT” button, where you can add all the necessary information: name of the gym, address, city, website, telephone … One of the details requested is its location: geographical latitude and longitude. In another point of this FAQS more details are given about why this information is requested and where it can be found.

Next, the most advisable thing to do is to add the timetable of the gym classes. To do this, from the “My gyms” page, click on the “CLASS SCHEDULES” button. The first page that opens is the page with the rooms of the gym, the rooms where the classes are held. Click on the “ADD ROOM” button and add the rooms of the gym where the classes are held. You can add up to 10 classes in each gym.

When you have entered the name of all the rooms, by clicking on the “VIEW SCHEDULE” button, you will see the timetable of a particular room. From this new page you can add weekly classes, which are repeated every week, or one-off classes, for a specific date.

Once all the classes have been registered, the next step is to give permission to the gym instructors so that they can share workout routines with the gym’s clients. Sport Is Life allows users to show other users the activity they are doing, but only registered gyms and personal trainers can send a workout to another user. To give these permissions, go to the “My gyms” page and click on the “PERMISSIONS” button. From this new page you can manage all the permissions. It is important to remember that you can only give permissions to 6 monitors. And to make a user appear in the list of monitors, the monitor must have a user in Sport Is Life and follow the activity of the gym, entering the gym’s profile and clicking on the button “ADD TO MY GYMS”.

Once all this has been done, you can announce to the gym’s clients that the gym has registered in Sport Is Life, so that the clients can also register and enjoy all the advantages of being part of this community.

How can I publish my gym’s class schedule?2021-11-08T08:00:04+00:00

Once you have registered your gyms with Sport Is Life, you can publish the class schedules so that users can view them and sign up.

The whole process of entering class schedules is done from the website. To publish the class schedules, from the main page where you see the gym information, you have to click on the button “CLASS SCHEDULES”.

On the next screen you will see the rooms of your gym. The first time you enter, they will not appear. To add the rooms, click on the “ADD ROOM” button, and enter the name of each room. You can edit the name of the room later. Once the rooms appear, click on the “VIEW SCHEDULE” button under the room where you want to add the class.

The screen that opens shows the classes you have added. At the bottom are the buttons to add more classes. You can add weekly classes, which are repeated every week, and one-off classes, which are organised on a specific date for a special reason but are not repeated. The two screens for adding these classes are similar, with the only difference being that weekly classes ask for the day of the week and one-off classes ask for the date of the class. Among the class options, a colour is also required. This colour will appear in the timetable of classes that users see and serves to make it easier to identify all classes that are similar.

REMINDER: To be able to add the class instructor, this instructor must be registered in Sport Is Life and must be one of your friends.

Where does the timetable of the classes appear?2021-11-08T07:59:06+00:00

Any registered Sport Is Life user (not only those of your gym) can see your gym’s class schedule. To do this, they must enter the profile of your gym and click on the following button:

Then a screen with the different rooms of the gym will appear. When the user selects a room they will be able to see the schedule of classes for that room. The timetable is displayed week by week and shows weekly classes and one-off classes. From this page, users can make a reservation for a class.

I want to create/edit a class but the teacher’s name does not appear in the list of teachers, what do I have to do?2021-11-08T07:58:24+00:00

When creating a class, either weekly or on a specific date, one of the parameters to be added is the teacher who will be teaching the class. This way, when users search for information about the class they can see the teacher’s name and profile picture.

When creating or editing a class, to add a teacher to a class, the teacher must be registered on Sport Is Life and must be one of your friends. When the teacher meets these conditions, their name will automatically be added to the list of users you can assign as a teacher.

Why are the coordinates of the gymnasium requested with the gymnasium information?2021-11-08T07:57:49+00:00

From Sport Is Life we want to know the coordinates of your gym because with this information we can show the location of the gym on Google Maps, on the profile page of the gym. With this information, other users will be able to know better where the gym is even if they don’t know the street or the area where it is located.

What do I have to do if I don’t know the coordinates of the gym?2021-11-08T07:57:16+00:00

The coordinates of a gym can be easily viewed via Google Maps. To do this, simply locate the gym on Google Maps and click on the right button. In the menu that appears, the coordinates are displayed at the top of the screen:

El primer valor que sale siempre es la latitud, y el segundo valor es la longitud.

Si la primera opción no muestra las coordenadas, también puedes verlas en Google Maps pulsando la opción “¿Qué hay aquí?”. Esta opción abre una ventana emergente en la parte inferior del mapa que muestra las coordenadas.

If doing this does not bring up the coordinates, you can also see them on Google Maps by clicking on the “What’s here” option. This option opens a popup at the bottom of the map showing the coordinates.

However, if you can’t find the coordinates of the gym with these instructions, you can write to us at [email protected] with the full address of your gym and we will look up the coordinates for you.

How can I share training routines with gym users?2021-11-08T08:00:48+00:00

Having a registered gym on Sport Is Life allows you to share workouts with other gym users.

In Sport Is Life, users can show other users the workout they have done, but if another user wants to repeat the same workout, he/she would have to copy all the exercises one by one in a new workout. On the other hand, registering a gym on Sport Is Life allows gym instructors to send workout routines to the gym’s clients. These workouts will appear among the client’s workouts (in the Templates list), and it will be very easy for the client to do this workout or adapt it as he/she progresses through the day.

The steps to follow to share workouts with the gym clients are:

1.Give permission to the gym instructors so that they can share workouts on behalf of the gym. These permissions are given from the website. On the main page of “My gyms”, under each gym there is a button that says “Permissions”. The permissions of the monitors are managed from this page.

REMINDER: For a user to appear on the permissions list, this user must follow the gym’s profile on Sport Is Life.

Gym instructors with permission to share workouts can have several predefined routines saved, and when a client requests a specific workout, the instructor can adjust this workout to the needs of each client and then send it to them.

RECOMMENDATION: The gym monitors can have several saved workouts, depending on the needs that the clients may have and depending on the equipment of the gym. Thus, when a client asks for a routine, the instructor will already have it saved and the only thing he/she will have to do is send it to the client and explain how to do each exercise.

3.When a client of the gym requests a routine to a monitor, the monitor will have to select the workout that he wants to send, and at the bottom of the screen he will find the following button:

When the trainer clicks on this button, a popup will open where the trainer will have to write the client’s e-mail, can name the training and can add a comment, which can be specific indications for the needs of this particular client.

4.The client will find the training sent by the trainer in the list of Templates (in the App, in the “Trainings” menu). The training will appear with the name that the trainer has written. To do the workout, the client must clone it, indicate the date of the new workout and then he/she can do it. The training will be saved permanently in the user’s Templates, although the user can edit it or delete it if he/she decides not to do it again.

The button to clone the training is:

What is the “Permissions” section?2021-11-08T07:55:23+00:00

Having a gym registered in Sport Is Life allows you to share workouts with the users of the gym, as mentioned in the previous point. The user who receives the workout will see it among his workouts and will be able to do it.

The users in charge of sharing the workouts with the gym users will be the monitors of the gym, from their profiles in Sport Is Life. For this reason, permission must be given to these users so that they can share routines on behalf of the gym.

In Sport Is Life, users can show other users the workout they have done, but if another user wants to repeat the same workout, they would have to copy all the exercises one by one in a new workout. Instead, with this permission granted by the gyms, selected users will be able to send workouts to the gym’s clients, and these clients will be able to easily do the received routines.

Another option is to create an exclusive user only to share workouts with the gym’s clients and give permission only to this user. In this case, the monitors who have to share workout routines with the gym’s clients will have to enter Sport Is Life with this user created specifically for this purpose.

IMPORTANT: When an instructor shares a routine with a user, the user will receive a notification saying that the gym has sent a routine, not the instructor who has done it. The workout is shared on behalf of the gym.

I want to give permission to a user to share workouts on behalf of the gym but their name is not on the list, what do I have to do?2021-11-08T07:54:54+00:00

If you want to give permission to a user to share workout routines with clients of the gym and their name does not appear in the list of users to give permission to, the reason is that this user does not follow the gym’s profile in Sport is Life. To fix this, the instructor must have a Sport Is Life profile, visit the gym profile and click on the “ADD TO MY GYMS” button.

How do I register a route if I go running or cycling?2021-11-08T07:53:45+00:00

In the first version of Sport Is Life it is not possible to record your running or cycling route. In the first version, you can only record the time and distance travelled, which you will have to enter manually at the end of your workout.

In the first update of Sport Is Life, it will be possible to record your running or cycling route if you use a Garmin or Suunto watch that supports GPS tracking. As soon as the data is uploaded to the Garmin/Suunto App, the data will be automatically sent to Sport Is Life. To achieve this synchronisation, you will need to indicate in Sport Is Life that you have a Garmin or Suunto account through the User Settings menu.

Future versions of Sport Is Life will add more brands of sports smartwatches and will also make it possible to track your route with your phone’s own GPS, if it has GPS.

I like to be able to personalise a workout at the gym, but I want someone to define a workout routine for me so that I can achieve my goals. How can I do this?2021-11-08T07:40:15+00:00

Sport Is Life is integrated with some gyms and personal trainers. If you go to one of these gyms and ask one of their instructors for a routine, they will be able to send you a personalised routine that suits your needs and goals. The routine they send you will appear with your workouts, in the “Templates” section. The routine will be totally personalised according to what you ask the gym instructor for.

Similarly, if you request a routine from one of the personal trainers registered with Sport Is Life, they will be able to send you a routine tailored to your goals.

NOTE: Use the gym and personal trainer search engines within Sport Is Life to find out which gyms/personal trainers are in your area!

I like the idea of tracking all my sporting activity on an App but I don’t want to share it with my friends, can I do that with Sport Is Life?2021-11-08T07:39:25+00:00

The privacy of our users is important to Sport Is Life. For this reason, it is easy to control whether or not your workouts are automatically shared once you have finished them. To manage this parameter, you have to enter the “User settings”, then enter the “Privacy options”, and there, check or uncheck the option “Do you allow a message to be created automatically when you finish a training session?

However, if you want to share a training session on an ad hoc basis, it is also possible to share them manually. To do this, you have to go to the screen of the workout you have finished and click on the share button, and select: “Comment on your wall”.

Once you share it, you will be able to see the workout on your profile page and also on the main Sport Is Life wall.

NOTE: Whatever you do, your comment with the workout details will at most be visible to your friends.

I train with a personal trainer on a regular basis, what can using Sport Is Life do for us?2021-11-08T07:38:04+00:00

Using Sport Is Life with your personal trainer can help you to better track the workouts you do together, analyse your progression over time and look at what you want to work on in the future. In addition, the personal trainer will also be able to see if you do other activities on your own, and thus better analyse your progress.

I open the App menu and in the training section I see many options. What is each option?2021-11-08T07:36:49+00:00

The options available in the Training menu are:

  • Train now: This option is used to start training right now, without having anything planned. With this option you can add exercises or sets as you do them.
  • Future training: This option is used to plan a training session for a specific date and leave the training saved, pending to do it later. This way, when the time comes to do the training, you can go to the “Pending training” section, select the training, click on “Start training” and mark the exercises you are doing, without having to worry about adding new exercises. However, if at the last minute you decide to change any of the training parameters, you can always edit the exercises you have added, add new exercises or delete the ones you have added.

*These 2 are the main ways to create a workout but they are not the only ones. Another highly recommended way to create a workout is to clone a workout that you have already finished, planned or defined as a “Template”. If you clone a workout you will be able to create a new workout, identical to an existing one, and even during the creation process you will be able to edit the parameters of the different exercises. This saves you from adding all the exercises you have done one by one. The button to clone a workout is as follows:

  • Pending training: In this section you can see a list of all the training sessions you have pending to do.
  • Finished workouts: In this section you can see a list of all the workouts you have finished.
  • Templates: In this section you can see all the training sessions that you have defined as Templates. Templates are predefined workouts that you can create when you create a workout and are workouts that can be used as a reference when creating new workouts, with the option to clone a workout.

In this list of Templates is also where you will find the workouts sent to you from your gym or personal trainer.

I have done a training routine that I really liked and I would like to repeat it later. What is the best way to do it with Sport Is Life?2021-11-08T07:35:43+00:00

The best way to repeat a workout you have done, or to take it as a reference for creating new workouts, is with the Clone a workout option. This option saves you from having to re-select all the exercises in the workout one by one. During the cloning process you can change some of the exercise parameters. Once the workout is cloned, you can continue to edit the exercises, add new exercises or delete existing exercises. The button to clone a workout is as follows:

Another way to use an existing workout as a reference for creating new workouts is to create a Template. Templates or predefined workouts are generated when planning a workout or during the cloning process of a workout by clicking on the “Create template” checkbox. The Templates you create will appear in the Templates section under the Workouts menu.

I want to continue my training at the gym but I do a lot of exercises and I’m too lazy to enter all the exercises I do one by one. Is there any way to speed up this step?2021-11-08T07:34:56+00:00

The answer to this question is yes and no. NO, because the first time you do a workout you will have to enter all the exercises by hand, one by one. However, there are methods to make this process less cumbersome, such as using the “Add sets” button when you have added an exercise but you want to do sets with several weights.

But the answer is also YES, because once you have created a workout, creating another identical or almost identical workout is very easy with the option to Clone a workout. This option saves you from having to re-select all the exercises in the workout one by one. During the cloning process you can change any of the exercise parameters. Once the workout is cloned, you can continue to edit the exercises, add new exercises or delete existing exercises. The button to clone a workout is as follows:

Another way to make it quick and easy to create a training similar to another is to create a Template. Templates or predefined workouts are generated when planning a workout or during the training cloning process by clicking on the “Create template” checkbox. The Templates you create will appear in the Templates section under the Workouts menu. When you want to do a training that you have defined as a Template, all you have to do is enter the Templates menu, select the chosen training and clone it.

In future versions, you will be able to follow your training with your sports smartwatch (which is certified for swimming with it on) and upload your times to Sport Is Life.

Under no circumstances can you swim with your mobile phone. I am going to participate in a competition and I would like to track my result on Sport Is Life, how do I do it?2021-11-08T07:36:58+00:00

The first thing you have to do is to see if the competition is created in Sport Is Life. To do this, you can search for the competition in the competition finder. The competition finder can be found in the Competitions menu. There you can enter the name of the competition, the place and the date and see if the competition has been created.

If you find the competition you are going to participate in, it is up to the organiser whether you can join or not, depending on how they have defined the privacy of the competition. There are competitions that are open for anyone to join, there are other competitions where you need a password from the competition organiser to join, and there are other competitions where you can only join if you are invited by the competition organiser. In this case, talk to the competition organiser to get an invitation.

If you can’t find the competition, one option is to talk to the competition organiser to create a competition on Sport Is Life so that all participants can join. Another option is to create the competition yourself. This way you can record your result and it will be saved with the rest of the competitions you have done. Also, if you know other participants in the competition, you can invite them to join the competition you have created so that you can compare your times. Manage the privacy of the competition when you create it so that whoever wants to join can do so, to join through a password or to participate only through an invitation.

In all of the above cases, when the competition is over, you will have to log in to Sport Is Life and enter your competition result. Each participant has to register his or her result. However, the competition organiser will have the ability to edit the results.

NOTE: Signing up for a competition through Sport Is Life does not entitle you to participate in the actual competition. Sport Is Life only serves to publicise the competition and record your result, but is not an actual registration method.
